Female genital mutilation, is actually a practice and common sense, logic, right from wrong would tell you it is also a crime. To the shock of many, it is this very practice that is on the rise in the United States. Of course, this correlates with the increase of immigrants coming in who praciice it in their country where it is widely accepted, and considered a part of life…somehow.
As for here in America, you would think that it would be an open and closed case and everyone here would want to condemn the practice through law, so that it couldn’t happen legally here on American soil. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case shockingly…even for a Democrats, this is a new low.
In Maine, house lawmakers have voted narrowly, but still voted to create an education and outreach program aimed at stopping “female genital mutilation” in their immigrant communities. HOWEVER, they stopped just shy of giving prosecutors additional resources to make the practice outright illegal.
Apparently it was an emotional debate that seemed to go on forever, but the House voted 76-71 against creating a new crime of “female genital mutilation”, a procedure that has ruined the lives of now at least 200 million girls and women in 30 countries all together. Instead of making this practice illegal, these House Democrats supported in it’s place a version that directs the Department of Health and Human Services to create an outreach and education programs featuring “culturally specific services for communities in the state wherein such practices might be happening. The service would be offered to minors.
Can you even believe it? Democrats refused to make mutilating female genitals a crime!?!?!? They’d rather have a ‘cultural’ program to ADVISE people??? People who may be engaging in the practice??? Why would they care about what some advisors have to tell them about what they are doing because they WANT to?
This is such idiocy!
The only thing worse…is the excuses.
“I do not believe that it is happening in the state of Maine. I truly do not believe that,” said Rep. Lois Galgay Reckitt, D-South Portland. “And I believe if it was happening, it would be prosecuted vigorously by the federal (laws) or by the abuse statutes in this state.”
But Rep. Heather Sirocki, R-Scarborough, said that since introducing the bill she has heard from numerous people in Maine – including some in the medical field – with personal stories about seeing female genital mutilation.
Some also argued that making it a crime might offend people or put immigrants in fear.
But it’s exactly why it has to be made a specific crime because those who grew up with it might not consider it a crime and might think if there is some consent from parents that it isn’t assault.
It’s not really rocket science that it should be a crime.
And people that practice it should be in fear.
Fear is good, it might prevent them from practicing it.
Truly…WHERE are the Democrats who are always speaking out against the so-called war on women? Where are the demonstrations, the vagina hats, the constant disruptive behavior to prove that women’s rights matter?
Hypocritical scumbags. All of them.
