Australia has prevented a number of terrorist attacks in recent years. However, just last week, a gunman Yacquab Khayre killed a innocent man, wounded 3 police officers, and took a woman hostage in Victoria. Luckily before he could cause more harm, he was shot and killed by the police.
As with the US, more and more countries like Australia are clamping down on immigrants coming from the Middle East. Australia once took in close to 4,000 migrants a year from Lebanon. Now, that number is more likely to be about 500. However Australia does continue to welcome immigrants from Pakistan. In fact, just last year, Austalia took in over 8,000 immigrants from Pakistan assumed to be mostly Muslim.
WIth terrorist attacks being on the rise, you can understand countries like Australia clamping down on immigrants coming from countries that support terrorism. You can also understand that Muslim immigrants might feel they are being discriminated against. However for Muslim organizations to not only ask for ‘safe spaces’, but for the government to fund them, that’s like asking the government to fund places where young minds can be radicalized – talk about INSANE!
H/T Conservative Tribune:
The idea of “safe spaces” is bad enough. But what about when a group wants taxpayers to fund it so that “inflammatory” extremists can express their views “without fear of being surveilled?”
That’s precisely what Blair Imani wants. She’s an American activist who thinks it would be a good idea for the Australian government to fund such spaces. Not only that, she thinks it would be a good idea if such safe spaces were exported to America, as she explained on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show Friday.
While noting that recent terror attacks in Europe may indicate Islamist terror is hazardous to one’s health, Carlson said that “in Australia, it is Muslims who are declaiming they’re the ones who need safe spaces.”
“A group called the Islamic Council of Victoria, which says it represents 200,000 Muslims in Australia, is calling on the government there to fund a series of safe spaces, where they say Muslims can safely express — this is a quote — ‘inflammatory views that would cause trouble if voiced publicly.’”
Imani, executive director of New York-based Equality for HER, told Carlson the United States should have such taxpayer-funded “safe spaces,” too. Except she tried to make it sound a little less “inflammatory.”
“I’m talking about safe spaces being somewhere where you can be who you are without fear of being surveilled, having violence committed against you or being harassed,” she said. “And I think it’s a good idea to have everywhere.”
Imani was then asked why she believed Muslims under suspicion by some governments. She didn’t skirt the obvious:
“There are acts of terror committed in the name of Allah,” she said.
Carlson said that keeping society safe from Islamist extremism shouldn’t be compromised just because activist groups want “safe spaces” to be paid for by the government.
“This is a real thing,” Carlson said. “And I don’t understand why groups like yours won’t acknowledge the reality of that, because it is there, it’s true.”
Sounds like this group in Australia has been taking pointers from the liberals in California and other states in the US, especially from liberal colleges where all the “safe spaces” are being practiced to help the young people “deal with” President Trump. That’s right! The Muslims now feel they can use this practice to their advantage, afterall, if you have ‘safe spaces’ for gays, you can’t discriminate against ‘safe spaces’ for Muslims.
Except for one thing, you don’t see LGTB groups congregating on topics of suicide bombings, gang rapings or mutilations of innocent women and children. Let’s face it folks, these ‘safe spaces’ are not about just giving a little area to Muslims so they can feel like their views or voices are valued. They might as well call it ‘spaces for radicalization’. Why would the Australian government want to pay for THAT?
