Rep. Scalise Upgraded to “Fair” Condition

0

On June 14, leftist gunman James Hodgkinson, from Belleville, Ill., turned an SKS 7.62mm caliber rifle and a 9mm handgun on Congressional Republican members who were practicing their annual charity game at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park in Alexandria, Virginia. Hodgkinson fired off over 60 shots at those Congressional members on the field as if he was at a target practice.

In the event, House Majority Whip, Steve Scalise was severly injured along with a staffer, lobbyist, and two members of the congressional police force.

Millions of Americans wondered if GOP Majority Whip Steve Scalise would initially pull through, after being seriously wounded. Scalise was initially in critical condition at MedStar Washington Hospital. However, recently hosptial officials upgraded Scalise’s condition to ‘fair’.

H/T Conservative Tribune:

After initially being close to death and in critical condition, Scalise’s condition was upgraded to “serious” over the weekend. On Wednesday, doctors announced Scalise’s condition was upgraded to “fair,” The Daily Caller reported.

This is a stunning development, especially considering that just over a week ago Scalise was on the brink of death because of his injuries, and doctors were having to perform multiple surgeries.

“Congressman Steve Scalise continues to make good progress,” said a statement released by MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where Scalise is being treated. “He is now listed in fair condition and is beginning an extended period of healing and rehabilitation.”

While this is good news, it doesn’t mean Scalise will be back up on his feet in a few days. He will probably need more surgeries given the extent of the internal damage, and will likely need some intense physical therapy.

Scalise got incredibly lucky. He lost a lot of blood from the gunshot wound, and had several internal organs severely damaged from the bullet. He could have died were it not for the skilled medical team at the hospital.

Scalise has had visitors almost every day, and support has poured in for him from all across the country.

Both President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence have shown concern over Scalise, and bring him up often in their public remarks. Both men also visited Scalise while he was in the hospital as a show of support.

Trump even brought up Scalise during his rally in Iowa on Wednesday night — through a few protesters tried to interrupt him while he was talking.

On Tuesday, The Washington Examiner noted that Pence actually donated blood during the Capitol Hill blood drive to show his support for Scalise, and all the others who were injured in the shooting.

Politico reported that the blood drive was hosted by Deputy Majority Whip Patrick McHenry, who is also taking over Scalise’s whip duties while he recuperates.

While Scalise may be in the hospital, that isn’t going to stop him from trying to continue to participate in the day-to-day working on Congress — especially with several major bills in the pipeline.

“(Scalise) may not be at the whip team meeting or on the floor during votes, but he’ll be making phone calls and participating in big, game-time decisions we need to make,” one source told Politico. “He’ll be a voice in the room even when he’s recovering.”

We all hope and pray that Scalise will make a full recovery, rapidly. With so much legislation coming up, Republican leadership needs Scalise in the hospital to help push Trump’s agenda through.

FBI officials recently revealed leftist gunman James Hodgkinson had more than 200 rounds of ammunition at a local storage unit which he visited more than 43 times between April and June.

According to the FBI, Hodgkinson also visited the office of Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in mid-April and emailed Senators Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin, D-Ill., sometime between January 2017 and the shooting last week.

In addition, Fox News reported the list contained the names of six members associated with the Freedom Caucus:

Reps. Scot DesJarlais, R-Tenn., Trent Franks, R-Ariz., Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, Mo Brooks, R-Ala., and Morgan Griffith, R-Va.

As Ann Coulter wrote in her column recently on Breitbart,

What we’re seeing is the following: Prominent liberals repeatedly tell us, with deadly seriousness, that Trump and his supporters are: “Hitler,” “fascists,” “bigots,” “haters,” “racists,” “terrorists,” “criminals,” and “white supremacists,” which is then followed by liberals physically attacking conservatives.

If any one of these bloody attacks had been committed by a Trump supporter against a Muslim, a gay, a Mexican, a woman, or a Democrat, the media would have had to drop its Russia conspiracy theory to give us 24-7 coverage of the epidemic of right-wing violence.

Ann’s certainly right about that.

As long as we continue to see the lunatics from the left attack pro-Trumpers and the MSM support their hate-filled rhetoric this insanity will continue.

As Conservatives and Americans, we will continue to say our prayers for Rep. Scalise. We continue to wish him a full recovery in his long road ahead to his return to ‘normalcy’. We hope and pray for all those involved in this horrific leftist attack on Republicans and Rep. Scalise.
