NYC parents were “horrified” last week when PTA president Frankie Quinones ended a talent event with an erotic drag show complete with gyrations, tongue gymnastics and a flashed G-string.
At the official public school Learning Expo for students in Manhattan’s District 4, children as young as 5 were exposed to the sexual performance where Quinones kicked his leg in the air, exposing his underwear.
“People were horrified,” parent Raquel Morales told the Daily News. “It looked like a nightclub performance. I’ve been asking for an apology from the district for the last week, and they’ve been ignoring it.”
“I saw her doing things like sticking her legs out and shaking her bottom and it felt weird,” said her 10-year-old son, J.D. “I don’t know why they would do that for an elementary school.”
Quinones wore a long red wig, a sheer black dress and glittery stilettos as he did the explicit lip sync performance of a song by the campy 1980’s Puerto Rican music sensation Iris Chacón.
Watch, if you can!
The NYDaily News reports:
Quinones is reportedly a feature at drag clubs throughout the city, and the video clearly shows this isn’t his first rodeo. He made his way around the stage shaking his hips and giving sultry looks, before doing a floor routine that involved thrusting one leg into the air and flashing his skimpy underwear.
The intention behind the spectacle seems to have been to give a lesson about sexuality, but some parents said they were shocked and uncomfortable by the ‘special surprise performance.’
Raquel Morales, whose son is in fifth grade at a public school in the district, has launched a social media campaign of sorts to try and get an apology.
‘People were horrified,’ Morales told the Daily News. ‘It looked like a nightclub performance. I’ve been asking for an apology from the district for the last week, and they’ve been ignoring it.’ Morales’s son JD also said he felt uncomfortable.
‘I saw her doing things like sticking her legs out and shaking her bottom and it felt weird,’ he said. ‘I don’t know why they would do that for an elementary school.’
Michael Aciman, a spokesman for the Education Department, called the performance ‘inappropriate’ and said the parent has been spoken with, but that school officials have not been disciplined.
I would imagine, given past experience, that the school will let the media frenzy go away and then just brush it aside!
This was totally inappropriate for elementary school students. Why would this person think this is appropriate? This is totally disgusting and rude. This behavior forces parents to have conversations with their children that they might not be ready for.
It is another example of the LGBT community trying to push an agenda. Then they wonder why people have issues with them.
There were almost 200 families gathered at this event. Many walked out.
Why was there not one adult in that room who walked over and shut off that music and stopped this nonsense!
I hope some of the parents sue the school, district, and the adults involved. There needs to be firings. That PTA President needs to be kicked out of the PTA.
This is insanity at it’s finest!
