Explosive House Oversight Committee Report! Obama Admin Covered Up ‘Fast And Furious’ Investigation

The House Oversight and Governmental Reform Committee published a damning report Wednesday about ‘Fast And Furious’ condemning the administration Barack Obama for allegedly COVERING UP the investigation into the death seven years ago of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.

Terry died during a gunfight against Mexican cartel members along the U.S.-Mexico border in 2010. Guns found at the scene were later traced to gun shops in Phoenix, where it was learned the U.S. government had purposefully allowed criminals to obtain weapons in order to track where the guns ultimately ended up.

Known as “Operation Fast and Furious” and operated by the DOJ’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the project wound up losing track of approximately 1,400- 2,000 of the guns sold, and it was two of these guns that showed up at the scene of Terry’s murder.

This stunning discovery led to an explosion of media coverage and eventually the launching of an investigation by Congress of the Obama administration’s so-called “gunwalking” operations and an internal investigation by the Department of Justice itself.

But according to the report published Wednesday, the “Justice Department’s internal probe was largely a sham, and it prioritized politics and spin over public safety.”

“The Department’s efforts focused on managing the day-to-day media cycle and protecting its senior political appointees rather than thoroughly investigating allegations of misconduct raised by whistleblowers.”

Speaking during a public hearing Wednesday, Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, bluntly stated the DOJ “had no intention of looking for honest answers and being transparent.”

“In fact, from the onset, bureaucrats employed shameless delay tactics to obstruct the investigation,” he added.

Documents also showed that former Attorney General Eric Holder never made an effort “to track down the more than 2,000 firearms lost along the Southwest border” or provide “coordinated assistance for the Terry family.”

“More than five years after Brian’s murder, the Terry family still wonders about key details of Operation Fast and Furious,” the report read. “The Justice Department’s obstruction of Congress’s investigation contributed to the Terry family’s inability to find answers.”

Moreover, the DOJ and the ATF both allegedly punished those ATF agents who reportedly functioned as whisteblowers by providing key details of the operation to Congress and the media.

“That decision, the single act of standing up and saying, ‘What we are doing is wrong’ … instantly took my standing from being that of an agent of the government to an enemy of the state,” whistleblower John Dodson testified Wednesday. “ATF and DOJ officials implemented an all-out campaign to silence and discredit me. Suffice to say, the last six to seven years at ATF have not been the best for me or my career.”

According to Fox News, “Grassley’s and Dodson’s testimony reinforced findings of the report, which states that the Justice Department knew before Terry’s death that the ATF was ‘walking’ firearms to Mexico and knew the day after the agent’s death that Fast and Furious guns were involved in the shootout — despite denying these facts to the media.”
