So I’m just going to paint a picture real quick. If Bob had a job, that means he would go to work, actually work, and then get paid for his work. The owners of the company would need to depend on Bob being at work to actually keep their business running to make money…money that they need to pay Bob.
Now..if Bob one day decides he’s not going to show up to work because he has a wife in the hospital, or maybe he broke his leg the night before….well, that’s understandable.
However, if Bob one day decided he’s not going to show up to work because he wants to go be a part of a protest, well now… Bob is going to suffer the consequences to his decision.
Why do you think that is?
Because…there is money to cover him in case of emergency. However, there is no money to cover him…because he wakes up and feels like being a social justice warrior for the day. No matter how important he feels his cause is. Bob’s bosses depend on him to show up and do what they pay him to show up and do…and it’s a courtesy that they will cover him in case he has an emergency.
So you would think Bob…would be grateful yes?
Not in this case. Not at all..
Despite this common knowledge (or what I had believed to be so,) 20 immigrant workers were shocked to find out that their jobs were not longer their jobs.
The former employees of EZ Industrial Solutions LLC, a Detroit-based auto parts maker, say that they were wrongfully fired, which would almost be believable had management not told them that there would be consequences for missing work without permission.
Believe it or not, cupcakes, there is no law that says businesses have to schedule your shifts around your desire to protest. There’s not even an unspoken agreement surrounding the topic.
However, this isn’t going to stop them from taking their complaints to federal labor regulators.
The company says that they were well within their rights to fire the employees for playing hooky.
“The law is quite clear that employees can’t just not show up to work when they’re expected, and also that they are not free to participate in political, non-work related protests during their work day without consequences. We therefore deny any wrongdoing and are confident that the charge will be dismissed.”
The lawyer who is representative the “aggrieved” employees says that the business shouldn’t have fired the employees.
“Workers wouldn’t be punished for not calling in, because they don’t have to do that anyway. The employer never cared. You could not go in for three days.”
Naturally, the company disagreed that this was their policy, but could not comment further due to the impending litigation.
So what do you think happens now?
I’ll tell you what happens…in this nation, that is still plagued with people that like to pretend they are still living in Obama’s world, they will feel like the victim. They will make this about racism or prejudice…they will then call on supporters to back them in their attempt to bring the city down over their hurt feelings.
When from the very beginning…if they weren’t such fools majoring in stupid, they would have known to be grateful for the jobs they had and found a way to fulfill their responsibilities, AND attend their silly protest too…
Time management…leading a balanced life…whatever you want to call it, it could have been done one way or another. You don’t just…NOT show up to work.
It doesn’t matter whether your name is Bob from Arkansas or Jose from Mexico….if you don’t show up to your job, you lose it. Period.
