Just when United Airlines began to breathe after some major scandals, they had to go and kill the rabbit that was set to become the world’s biggest bunny.
The night time comics will have a field day with this!
Three-foot Simon, destined to be the world’s biggest bunny, died in the cargo section of a Boeing 767 after flying out of Heathrow to a new celebrity owner in the US.
Annette Edwards, a giant-rabbit breeder, told TMZ that her 3-foot bunny, Simon, was found dead in the plane’s cargo after a United flight from London to O’Hare International Airport in Chicago on Monday night. Edwards said the 10-month-old, 50-pound rabbit was healthy before getting on the flight, according to The Sun.
The breeder, Annette Edwards, says Simon was healthy before boarding … but was found dead in the plane’s cargo hold upon landing. It was reportedly on its way to a new celeb owner in the States.
The rabbits cost around $6,400 to raise, and Edwards sells them for $640 a pop. Simon, who was 10 months old, was expected to surpass his 4-foot, 4-inch dad …and snag the record for world’s biggest.
Breeder Annette Edwards said: “Simon had a vet’s check-up three hours before the flight and was ‘fit as a fiddle’. Something very strange has happened and I want to know what.”
“I’ve sent rabbits all around the world and nothing like this has happened before.”
United Airlines reportedly said it was saddened to hear this news and that it’s trying to determine why Simon died.
United’s reputation is at rock bottom after film of a doctor being dragged from a jet went viral.
A day after a cop dragged a man off a flight for refusing to VOLUNTEER his seat to an employee who needed to get to a later flight, United Airlines stock plunged over 4% and it looks like that’s not the end.
The stock move on Tuesday knocked nearly $1 billion off the company’s market value.
The video showed a passenger being forcibly removed on Sunday from United Flight 3411 at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
Several passengers recorded the incident on their phones and posted video on social media showing three Chicago Department of Aviation security officers dragging the man, who has not been identified, down the aisle by the arms and legs while other passengers shout in protest.
He continued to resist after he was removed and ran back onto the airplane, face bloodied from the encounter.
The incident sparked a massive reaction online.
American Airlines decided they needed to get into the act as well, during the same week.
A woman was thrown off an American Airlines plane last week after a flight attendant whacked her with her baby’s stroller reducing her to tears. He came close to hitting one of the babies!
The belligerent flight attendant then proceeded to threaten a male passenger challenging a passenger to a FIGHT and yelling ‘hit me!’ and it was all caught on video.
He has since been removed from duty, but was originally allowed to continue on the flight.
First United, now American… Where do we turn to fly the friendly skies?
Fellow passenger, Surain Adyanthaya, posted it online with the caption:
“OMG. Flight attendant violently took a stroller from a lady with a baby on my flight, hitting her and just missing the baby. Then he tried to fight a passenger who stood up for her.’’
I think that I will fly Southwest next time!
