Seriously, did Iran not see the message President Trump just sent to Assad less than two weeks ago? Or how about the big message we sent to ISIS in Afghanistan? Did they not see that? Do the Iranians really want to provocate a nuclear war in the Persian Gulf? For the U.S. it would be like swatting flys with a flyswatter, it would be over before it really started.
This past September, while campaigning for the White House, Trump vowed that Iranian vessels harassing U.S. Navy forces would be “shot out of the water.”
After Trump’s use of 59 Tomahawks on Syria and a MOAB on ISIS, I don’t think I would want to be, as they say, the next one up. But if Iran wants to be that stupid they better be prepared. President Trump is no Obama. His actions should speak louder than his words. Trump is returning America to a strong military by sending messages so far to Syria and ISIS that the U.S. is not going to sit by and be idle any more. America is back!
H/T Conservative Tribune:
The Persian Gulf has seen plenty of conflict — and events in that region could bring even more tension, if a recent altercation between an Iranian ship and the U.S. Navy is any indication.
On Monday, an Iranian Revolutionary Guard “fast attack craft” approached a U.S. guided missile destroyer and came within 1,000 yards of the American vessel. Information about the incident was not released by the Navy until the following day.
According to Fox News, the Iranian attack ship had its weapons manned and ready. In response to the encroaching threat, the USS Mahan manned its own weapons and fired off warning flares.
That flare signal was apparently enough for the foreign ship to get the message and keep its distance.
“Coming inbound at a high rate of speed like that and manning weapons, despite clear warnings from the ship, is obviously provocative behavior,” explained a U.S. spokesperson regarding the incident.
It wasn’t the first time that the USS Mahan was forced to fire flares or warning shots to urge an Iranian ship back off. Back in early January, the USS Mahan (DDG-72) fired 3 warning shots at four Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard boats in the Strait of Hormuz after the Iranians did not respond to requests by the Mahan to slow down and instead continued asking the ship questions, coming to within 800m of the Mahan.
In the past couple weeks, President Trump has sent a warning message to Syria and Assad – 59 Tomahawk missiles. The warning was issued to Assad for it’s use of chemical weapons.
Then, President Trump sent a warning to ISIS in Afghanistan. It was called the MOAB (commonly known as the ‘mother of all bombs’).
You would think Iran would not want to mess with President Trump, who seems to be ‘all business’ when it comes to threats from unstable countries or bullies like Syria and Afghanistan.
But like Russia and Syria, it appears that Iran is testing the limits of America’s military patience under President Trump. Probably after eight years of unenforced “red lines” and vague talk from Barack Obama, Iran and other opponents are just being provocative like kids on the playground who make fun of you, poke you and then run away when you threaten them. I highly doubt Iran really wants to start something stupid – like a nuclear war with the United States, especially now that we have a REAL commander in charge. President Trump is NOT like Obama. He is NOT going to put up with their shenanigans.
The USS Mahan (DDG-72) is an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer in the US Navy. It is part of the Destroyer Squadron 22 and it’s motto: “This ship is built to fight; you’d better know how.”
This latest incident with Iran is not the first one this year. The USS Mahan had a run in with Iranians back in January, but most recently on April 21th. The Iranians should know, you don’t play with fire. It seems in this latest incident a helicopter dropped a smoke float and the destroyer launched warning flares at the Iranians, but they continued at high speed in the direction of the USS Mahan. Talk about provocative behavior. Do these idiots really want to go ‘head to head’ against the U.S. Navy? I don’t think so! They just want to taunt us, like bullies on a elementary school playground. The Iranians should really be more careful, unless of course they would like to receive a little message from President Trump as well – like Tomahawk missiles or a MOAB. The United States is back and we are a force to be reckoned with!
