Mom Sits Behind NFL Star on Plane. End of Flight Hands Him Note, Says ‘Read It Later’ and Walks Away…

0

Once in awhile you hear a story about a professional athlete that warms your heart. It negates all the other bad stories of some of those professionals that had the potential to be good role models, but shouldn’t be or aren’t. Not all professional athletes even embrace their role as a role model to younger athletes and kids growing up today, even if they are.

Recently, Mohamed Sanu, wide-receiver for the Atlanta Falcons exemplified what it means to be a good role model. His actions on an airplane flight caught the attention of a nearby mom. The mom was seated behind the NFL player, Sanu. What Sanu did for her son, caused her to caused her to take notice.

H/T Liftable:

His actions on this flight weren’t anything out of the ordinary for him, but what he didn’t know was that he had an audience. A 10-year-old boy was observing the star athlete’s every move.

The nice thing is that Sanu was caught making a lot of responsible choices. For one thing, he was very studious in pouring over his team playbook.

Next, his politeness toward others was very impressive. Finally, he made healthy eating choices by snacking on fruit and drinking juice.

Actions speak louder than words, and this athlete’s actions spoke volumes. The young athlete watching him was deeply impressed, and even though Sanu didn’t notice the family behind him, they certainly noticed him.

It was something that the 10-year-old will always remember. The boy’s mom even took the extra step to make sure Sanu knew what his actions meant to her and her boy.

This definitely put a smile on my face. ☺️ the little things.

Mom actually set a wonderful example by recognizing the positive aspects of Sanu’s actions and acknowledging them. So many times, good is done but it goes unnoticed and without validation, which is fine — but if we want more good in the world, we should probably work harder to promote it.

She wanted Sanu to know that they were aware of what he had done. The mother handed him a note, said “read it later,” and just walked away.

It’s wonderful that a successful NFL athlete is “tickled” by the fact he made such a positive impression. “This definitely put a smile on my face … the little things,” Sanu tweeted.

Professional athletes are role models, especially for young kids growing up today. These young kids look up to these athletes. They work hard, play hard and some even have dreams of playing in the NFL just like players they look up to, like Mohamed Sanu of the Atlanta Falcons. Professional players should remember, little kids who watch them, watch them under all circumstances, regardless if they are playing football on TV or just on an airplane eating a meal.

As someone once said, ‘To the world you may be one person but to one person you may be the world.’

Mohamed Sanu meant the world to this one little boy. Thanks Mohamed for being a good sport! And May you have another great year with the Atlanta Falcons. I was actually rooting for Sanu and the rest of the Falcons in the last Super Bowl.  This certainly makes me proud to know that not only does this young boy look up to his favorite NFL player, but even mom’s do too.
