Gun Owners’ Rights Just Got Smacked Down By 4th District Court

0

It wouldn’t be a day in America if liberals weren’t trying to infringe on some constitutional right we have. Once again they have chosen to target our Second Amendment rights. This time though the infringement is more final. The 4th District Court of Appeals just ruled that forty-five different assault weapons in Maryland should be banned. It was determined by the court they are not covered by our second amendment.

The decision was made in an uneven 10-4 vote. Judge Robert King ruled on the matter and said the following in his issued statement on the case,

Put simply, we have no power to extend Second Amendment protection to the weapons of war.”

The law also limits gun magazines to ten rounds. Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh is the one who headed the fight and said the following about the issue,

it is unthinkable that these weapons of war, weapons that caused the carnage in Newtown and in other communities across the country, would be protected by the Second Amendment. It’s a very strong opinion, and it has national significance, both because it’s en-banc and for the strength of its decision.”

Judge William Taxler wrote about the final judgment too. He was none too pleased with the decision and scolded the court for stripping citizens of their constitutional right to keep and bare arms. The National Rifle Association shared the same sentiment on the matter saying,

It is absurd to hold that the most popular rifle in America is not a protected ‘arm’ under the Second Amendment, the majority opinion clearly ignores the Supreme Court’s guidance from District of Columbia v. Heller that the Second Amendment protects arms that are ‘in common use at the time for lawful purposes like self-defense.”

When Donald Trump was elected into office the American people spoke loud and clear that they want their Second Amendment rights protected, which is why they didn’t elect a progressive like Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton. The court had no business ruling in such a way that is the antithesis of what the American people wanted.
