President Trump promised that he would crackdown on illegal immigration when he became President. This is one of the biggest parts of his administration’s policy. He has certainly followed through on this promise considering all the ICE raids that have been going on. Some of these raids have been happening in sanctuary cities.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is known for being a sanctuary city. It is one of dozens that refuses to turn over illegal aliens to federal authorities when they are seeking their arrest and persecution for their crimes. Which makes these cities one in the same with the criminal. Philadelphia has been trying to ignore the President’s orders not to catch and release like under the Obama administration .
The President officially sent in agents from the Immigrations and Customs Enforcment to arrest 248 illegal aliens. This is one of the larger raids to occur since the beginning. ERO Philadelphia Acting Field Office Director Jennifer Ritchey said the following in a statement about the ongoing policy,
“ICE officers make extraordinary efforts to keep our communities safe, and this operation is just a small example of what they do every day. ERO officers took oaths to protect the homeland and to arrest individuals in violation of immigration laws. This operation resulted in multiple arrests of individuals with violent criminal arrests or convictions in the three-state region. In the Philadelphia area, ICE arrested several at large criminal aliens in which the agency had issued detainers but the City of Philadelphia failed to honor them and released the individuals from custody — a situation that puts the public at unnecessary risk. ICE will continue to conduct targeted enforcement operations, whether local jurisdictions intend to cooperate with ICE or not.”
Out of all the arrests that were made 120 remain pending convictions while 50 have been deported. It is clear the President is not going to let any more illegal immigrants unjustly suck up our taxpayer dollars. If you can’t obey the laws then you can go home. Especially if you aren’t bringing anything of value to this country as a criminal.
Their have been other raids that have taken place already. If the size of this most recent one which has hit the triple digits is any indication of the raids to come then they will not be slowing down any time soon. Revitalizing the immigration system might take less time than expected after all.
