If you missed the 2017 Grammy Awards, you probably didn’t miss too much. Although if you are one who of those who are into knowing what celebrity wore what, or what celebrity was with who, you probably tuned in. You certainly didn’t tune in to find out who could or couldn’t sing the lyrics of Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” with the host of the Grammy’s James Corden.
However, the Grammy’s did have a glimmer of class. You may have missed it, but it seems there was at least one classy lady who beat out and embarrassed Rihanna who practically fell on her face after being nominated for at least 9 Grammy’s and won only one. Here’s the scoop.
H/T Viral Super:
Rihanna arrived fashionably late to the 59th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night — and you better believe she made a dramatic entrance.
Rihanna, the “Umbrella” songstress was decked out in designer jewels and diamonds at the 2017 Grammy Awards. What’s she wearing you ask? That’s a custom orange Armani Privé crop top with encrusted tangerine jewels and dramatic black ruffled ballgown skirt with deep black silk organza. Rihanna also was sparkling in her Chopard diamond earrings, matching watch, cuffs and ring, and David Webb Jewels rings.
Did I mention her shoes were custom mules made by Giuseppe Zanotti?
Oh…wait…Beep. Beep. Back it up!…Yes, I did say “crop top”.
Yes, I know what you’re thinking….it’s a black tie event….Who wears a “crop top” to a black tie event? Not too many ladies I know, but wait, there’s more.
Rihanna’s most attention-grabbing accessory on Sunday evening may have been her bedazzled crystal flask, which she indiscreetly took big gulps from, joined by bestie and assistant Jennifer Rosales, who had her own matching flask.
I know what you might be thinking. Why couldn’t Rihanna just buy alcohol or drinks at the event like everyone else there? I mean, it’s not like she couldn’t afford the overpriced and probably cheap, generic drinks right?
Hey, when you can go to a black tie event dressed in a crop top, I guess that entitles you to bring your own flask of liquor as well.
Rihanna was caught on camera swigging from the flask, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand and passing it along to the her assistant sitting next to her, who took a shot as well.
Tell me, what lady brings a flask to the Grammy Awards? Never mind, we did say it was Rihanna right?
She was also filmed telling her friend during the ceremony: ‘I think I need another shot’.
Thank goodness, there was at least one lady at the Grammy Awards Sunday night and she even acknowledged Beyonce. That lady was…Adele.
Anointed as the winner of Album of the Year for 25, Adele hesitated to accept the honor and dedicated her victory to Beyoncé. “I’m very humbled and I’m very grateful and gracious,” the British singer said, “but my artist of my life is Beyoncé and this album to me, the Lemonade album, was just so monumental, Beyoncé. It was so monumental and so well thought-out and so beautiful and soul-baring, and we all got to see another side to you that you don’t always let us see, and we appreciate that. And all us artists here adore you. You are our light!”
That’s right, Adele won Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Album of the Year, Best Pop Solo, and Best Pop Vocal Album…but she knew the public was disappointed and wanted Beyonce’s Lemonade. So Adele, being the classy lady that she is, recognized Beyonce. She even broke a Grammy in half for Beyonce.
Speaking of light…Twitter was lit up:
ADELE IS CLASS. Beyoncé is the artist of our generation.
Adele is basically apologizing Beyonce for winning. That’s extremely classy.
Beyoncé really did deserve it. Props to Adele for acknowledging that.
Many felt the Beyonce’s “Lemonade” had an unbelievable following and movement that gave the album a life of its own. A powerful statement impacting on the time and place during the year of its release. But it Adele’s “Hello” and “25” that won out.
Adele’s showed true class by acknowledging Beyonce’s artistic performance for “Lemonade”, even though it’s truly Adele’s voice that is the real art. She doesn’t have to wear skimping clothes or outlandish outfits to attract followers to her shows…it’s all about her real talent and voice!
Rihanna on the other hand…was up for EIGHT nominations, including Record of the Year.
Then, Rhianna posted on Twitter:
I THINK ITS TIME FOR ANOTHER SHOT CTFUUUUUDUDUFUUDJDJFJDKDKKD
How did Twitter respond about Rihanna:
We now know how Rihanna gets through all these award shows #GRAMMYs
Move over, Leo and Leo’s vape pen, there’s a new It Couple in town. Rihanna and Rihanna’s flask. http://eonli.ne/2kALxd8
Others responded on Twitter:
“Rihanna is hardcore,”
“Rih and her flask… it’s the gift that keeps on giving.”
“Rih rih didn’t win one Grammy! I’m quite upset because she worked her ass off!”
Meanwhile, Rihanna wasn’t about to get stuck sitting in the audience without enough cocktail to last the entire show. When Jenn took a long sip, the star shot her a look as if to say, “Don’t waste it!” (Don’t you just love Ed Sheeran’s look?)
In true Rihanna fashion, she even whipped out her iPhone and FaceTimed while a performance went on behind her because, well, why not?
Despite not being able to accept an award on stage at the Grammy’s, Rihanna still wanted to ensure ALL eyes were on her thanks to her skin-baring, classless outfit.
You might say, Rihanna’s night was kind of like that flask at the end of the night…EMPTY!
On the other hand…
Adele performed twice Sunday evening, opening the telecast with “Hello” and later paying tribute to George Michael with a take on “Fastlove” that she aborted and started over, after apologizing to the audience. Again, pure class.
For those of us that appreciate talent, we just want to say congratulations to pop star Adele for her Album Of The Year – 25, as well as Song Of The Year and Record Of The Year for “Hello.” Thanks for keeping it classy!
