As Democrat Congresswoman Maxine Waters states she needs no evidence to impeach Trump on the West Coast, the Democrat Senator from the East Coast is calling for cooperation on both sides.
“Whoever my president is I want to do well,” said Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va. “There are red states and there are blue states, hopefully we are all still red, white and blue.”
Manchin does not believe in the obstructionist, anti-Trump stance many Democrats like Waters have been flaunting.
“I’m a West Virginia Democrat, not a Washington Democrat. … this toxic atmosphere is not for me. It’s not who I am,” he said in an extensive interview with The Daily Caller.
“As Americans, we always win if we work together,” he said.
But then he speaks about the relationship, or should I say, non-relationship with Obama:
Manchin stated that he has interacted more with Trump since last November than during his entire experience with Obama.
“There was no relationship-building or camaraderie” with Obama.”
He also addressed the treatment that Trump voters have been receiving:
Manchin stated that in West Virginia, Trump voters were “like returning Vietnam veterans who did everything their country asked and then got kicked in the teeth.”
He went on to berate leftist Democrat policies that have “evolved to the point where the Democrats are preventing the working class from working.”
In the immortal words of Billy Mays, “That’s not all!”
He went after dirty Harry too!
“Harry and I have not seen eye to eye since I arrived six years ago,” Manchin says smiling. “His leadership style did not coincide with mine.” He continued, “Thank you for your service, Harry, and it’s time to move on and let someone else take over.”
He has been supportive of the President’s cabinet picks and has met with Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch.
Do we see a party switch for Sen. Joe Manchin in the future?
