There’s a reason the mainstream media has an approval rating of 19% and Donald Trump’s approval rating after his first week in office is 59%. ABC did a story about the number of people who attended Donald Trump’s inaugural, they included an interview with Ari Fleischer, George W. Bush’s press secretary.
True to form, ABC edited Fleischer’s comments, taking them out of context so that it appeared Fleischer was being critical of Sean Spicer, Donald Trump’s press secretary. Here’s the edit.
What is different this time is not that ABC unfavorably edited a quote from a Republican official, but that they got caught. Ari Fleischer outed them on Twitter.
The thing I’ve always appreciated about Donald Trump is that he never lets an attack go unanswered. That makes covering the presidency a whole new thing for the mainstream media. They’ve always had a field day lying about Republicans and no one ever called them on it; those days are over and done.
President Trump is even impressing the heart and soul of the Republican establishment based on Fleischer’s Tweet. “If this is how the press reports, Trump is right to go after them.” I never thought I’d hear that from an establishment Republican.
More than anything, the one thing that hurt George W. Bush’s presidency was him hiding under his desk in the Oval Office and not responding to lies from Democrats in Congress and Democratic operatives in the media with bylines.
Not only did ABC issue a correction, they apologized.
Nightline aired a segment Monday night about the first three days of the new administration including Sean Spicer’s statement to the press on Saturday. As part of the report, we interviewed former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer. In editing the piece for air, his quote was shortened and as a result his opinions mischaracterized. We are fixing the piece online to include his full quote and context. We apologize and regret the error.
It’s a good start, but they did continue the lie: We apologize and regret the error.
It was not an error, it was intentional.
It’s a new day in Washington, thankfully, and Donald Trump’s willingness to go after the media for their Fake News is rubbing off. Even ordinary citizens who have spent the last eight years afraid to speak up for fear of being called a racist are standing up and fighting back against the left.
We can only hope the left continues their lying and bullying tactics, after all, they’ve worked like a charm since Ronald Reagan left office. If they keep it up in the face of conservatives being willing to fight back with the truth, the thousands of elective offices that they lost under the leadership of Barack Obama will just be a drop in the bucket.
