Government at the local and national level just keeps on sticking it’s nose further and further into the daily business of the American people. The law enforcement in Michigan just took it to a new level.
They actually, yes..really… gave a guy a ticket for letting his car warm up in a private driveway.
It is pretty simple. Man has been warming up the auto in the driveway since the early days of Henry Ford. It is amazing we ever survived without the wisdom of Roseville, Michigan Police Chief James Berlin.
Seems he is worried about the car getting stolen and having to have a high speed chase:
Like many residents do in the middle of winter, Nick Taylor left his car unlocked and running in the driveway, hoping it would warm up by the time he returned.
But when the 24-year-old walked back to his frosted car, he spotted a piece of paper tucked underneath his windshield: it was a $128 ticket for leaving a vehicle unattended. Taylor was shocked.
“I was there for maybe seven or eight minutes before I noticed the ticket,” Taylor told CBS Detroit, adding that he was dropping off diapers in the process.
Afterward, Taylor posted a photo of the ticket on his Facebook page, blasting the city of Roseville, Michigan, for “wasting the taxpayer’s money.”
The image was shared by more than 13,600 people and received thousands of comments, sparking a debate on whether or not the ticket was valid.
“I thought u couldn’t be ticketed on private property,” one Facebook user argued.
“Unreal! I wonder what lesson was being taught with this ticket,” another commented.
During a time when our precious law enforcement is under attack for doing their jobs correctly and this moron decides to waste precious resources micromanaging peoples’ lives like he is the King of France…
“I encourage our officers to write this ticket,” Roseville Police Chief James Berlin told CBS Detroit, “All it takes is someone to hop in this car and take off. Then there’s a chase often at a high rate of speed and all that could have been prevented.”
Yeah…and if we don’t build banks, there will be no bank robberies!!
The lack of common sense in some of our citizens amazes me. Roseville Police Chief James Berlin has about as much common sense as a pickle! Common sense says you cannot sanitize the world of car thefts and trying to do it by sticking your freakin’ nose into other people’s personal business is unacceptable.
