Navy Sailor Refused To Stand For National Anthem: Gets Punishment She Deserves! [VIDEO]

Janaye Ervin was a sailor in the United States Navy. She came from a Navy family and her grandfather, her father, and her brother all served in the Navy. Last September Ervin was on reserve duty at Pearl Harbor-Hickam Field in Hawaii.

Apparently Ervin, an intelligence specialist with a top secret security clearance, had been spending her spare time listening to Colin Kaepernick and decided she was not going to stand for morning colors.

In addition to being in the Naval Reserve, Ervin worked for a government contractor that required her security clearance. Because of her insubordination Ervin’s security clearance was revoked by the Navy and they called her employer to let them know. She lost her job with the government contractor.

She was also drummed out of the Navy.

Ervin found out United States Navy is not the San Francisco 49ers. Thank God for small favors. Somewhere along the way she confused the opportunity that had been given to her by the US Navy with “oppression.”

“I just didn’t want to stand at that moment. I can’t stand for this song knowing that the song isn’t for me, being black. The song doesn’t represent me at all. To be honest, I never really thought about the flag in my entire life, I had no reason to. It’s just a flag.”

When Ervin was found sitting during the national anthem, the civilian approached her and asked her why she wasn’t standing since she was in uniform. That is, after all, an ironclad requirement in all the services. She looked at the man, defiantly, and told him she didn’t have to. The gentleman made sure her superior officers found out about that defiance.

She was called in, read her rights, and she admitted that she had refused to stand for the national anthem. They relied on the Uniform Code of Military Justice and revoked her security clearance and her access badges.

Ervin is now whining about losing her security clearance and her job. “So, well, I’m getting punished without ever going to trial or anything, or going through any due process.” She’s making the social justice warrior rounds and has been offered assistance by none other than Colin Kaepernick.

As far as Ervin is concerned, and as far as her comment, “It’s just a flag,” I would invite her to say that to these guys.
