It looks like the federal courts have driven a stake through the heart of the vampire known as ObamaCare.
U.S. House of Representatives filed suit against the Obama administration’s Department of Health and Human Services over reimbursements to insurers. In this budget cycle the Congress specifically blocked HHS from spending that money by cancelling the appropriations for it.
Needless to say, Barack Obama doesn’t care about the law and directed HHS to find a way to give insurers taxpayer dollars to prop up his signature piece of legislation. The federal courts just stopped that. The U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for District of Columbia put the case on hold pending Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The ruling paves the way for the Trump administration to pull the plug on ObamaCare. Needless to say Democrats are apoplectic.
“It will be possible for the next President to sabotage the ACA immediately upon taking office without any action by Congress, upending the stability of health insurance markets and eliminating subsidies that enable millions of Americans to afford health coverage.”
That was the number two Democrat in the house, Steny Hoyer.
The fight over ObamaCare will now go back to the Congress where they will take up legislation to eliminate government run healthcare. President-elect Trump made elimination of ObamaCare a key plank in his platform that led to his landslide victory in America. (I don’t count the state of California or four boroughs of New York City as “America” after the selection.)
The Obama/Loretta Lynch Justice Department have already surrendered on a number of immigration cases. They’ve agreed to put a number of those actions on hold so the Trump administration can settle them. Needless to say, those cases won’t be settled in a way that Barack Obama and his administration, or Democrats in general, will favor.
Just four weeks after the election Donald Trump is well on his way to Making America Great Again.
