One of America’s larger playgrounds, Six-Flags theme park in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, just received horrifying news. A bomb/shooting threat was called into state police this afternoon.
The cocky caller phoned in around 1:30 pm and said that people at Six Flags America would be shot to death and bombed.
Authorities then warned Six Flags America about the call and asked them to evacuate visitors.
Police investigated the origin and validity of the phone call and as of yet, are not sure if it was a serious threat, they searched the park but couldn’t find any real dangers inside.
I would rather be safe than sorry and not go within ten feet of major crowds this weekend, there may be a giant target on your back if you do.
There was a little over 3,000 people inside Six Flags America when the evacuation occurred, according to authorities.
A spokeswoman for Six Flags America stated that… ‘The safety of our guests and employees is always our highest priority,’
The park was just about to close for a private event when the evacuation took place. If everything goes smoothly it will reopen according to schedule. I for one would stay away from theme parks and touristy areas, though. This is a developing story, stay tuned for updates.
