When a deputy pulled someone over Saturday evening, something completely unexpected happened, and it made him a little jumpy. As he neared the drivers side window, the officer noticed something behind the car and started running scenarios through his mind, he had to act fast. After all of the police shootings happening lately, this man didn’t want to take a chance with his life. He wanted to return to his family. He could hear his heart thudding in his chest as he saw the truck pull up behind the car he had just pulled over, then a man and woman stepped out of their vehicle and approached him.
“I immediately start running situations through my head and praying for the best,” Wiggins said.
Wiggins said that he was nervous and started praying to God that nothing would happen.
A lot of police officers have been on edge due to recent police-related shootings.
As Wiggins got out of his patrol car he saw a man and a woman exiting their car.
“My hand close to my gun and my heart pounding, all while still watching the driver of the truck,” Wiggins said.
The man told Wiggins the driver of the truck was his son.
Wiggins relaxed just a little and told him the reason for the stop.
The man then told Wiggins about his father being in the hospital and having a stroke.
Before he left, he grabbed Wiggin’s hand and asked “to pray for me.”
“My heart sank, and as he prayed for me and my brothers in blue my eyes filled with tears, I was at a loss for words, this man with all he had going on stopped to pray for me,” Wiggins said.
Wiggins thanked the officer for taking the time to pray with them and wished the cop well. It’s amazing that this couple was willing to take time out of their day to pray for a cop. It’s sad when the people who should be protecting us are the ones who need our protection, shame on everyone who’s a threat to our officers.
