Doing Nothing Is A Good Thing To Do

Doing nothing is a good thing to do. Paradoxically even when I am doing nothing I feel like I have to be doing something. So even though I am not working, I over hobo just to say I am doing something.

I mean, I find a well rounded diet in one dumpster two blocks from my house. I’ve got a pork stew cooking right now full of fresh vegetables and some store bought rice. I find enough in one dive, so to speak, to last for several days.

I have a hard time allowing myself leisure. Some kind of guilt complex, plus being in fight or flight for most of my life; it is hard to let my guard fully down. Our society seems to run on fight, flight or freeze, so I assume many of you are like me to a lesser or greater degree.

I was a voracious reader all the way through young adulthood. The only place I have allowed myself to read without a care, since then, was in jail. That also depended on what jail. Believe it or not some of those places induce a sort of natural fight or flight tendency.

But nothing stirs the imagination like a good fantasy novel, they can also help you reconnect you with lost dreams. I started reading “The Mists of Avalon” an imaginative re- telling of the King Arthur legends. There was some real wisdom to be found in the prologue alone. I had a strange thought when I put the book down. I sort of half grumbled, ” I will never be a Druid.” I had kind of forgotten how much a wanted to be one, when I was a kid.

I am a full believer in fairly realms and other mystical destinations. The natural world seems to be a natural gateway into these sacred places; nature also has a whole bunch of healing energies and plants most of don’t listen to much anymore.

Not sure where all this will lead, but I am going to dream for a while.

Merlin is real…

…no ghost…

That protector of the good king…

is alive inside of you,…

alive in that beautiful king we call Christ.

If you live in the country, you can carry Author’s sword,

If you live in the city, you can call on owl for wisdom,…

ride a good white horse right out through the stars…

Raised tough? let your guard down…

God’s heart is the heart of a child.

…so is yours…

Hobo John here. I love you with everything I have. That is my heart song and the truth of things.

Let yourself dream, why don’t you.

About Author

Hobo John

Hobo John here, I am a fifty year old man currently living in a small town in Idaho, this is also where I grew up. Like any Idaho boy I love the outdoors, and am a sports enthusiast. But I also love the arts and paint a little myself. In Proverbs it says, "A man's pursuit is his kindness, " and that is my only true mission in life. I like to write about just about anything; songs , children's stories, politics, short stories, however, I have not attempted a novel yet. I also consider myself a bit of a philosopher, after seven years of living the homeless life I actually started to enjoy it. I started writing little phrases that I hope contain some wisdom. I call them Hobo Metaphysics. "Gentle beats the shit out of aggressive," being one of my favorites. Peace to you folks, "I love you with everything that I have." That is my motto and the truth of things.
