Donald Trump is getting heat from all sides.
Well actually, he’s getting more heat from Republicans – the Establishment – than from Democrats.
The Democrats are just sitting back, smiling.
The latest salvo comes from Establishment national security advisers.
In a letter released late Wednesday, former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and more than 70 other experts wrote that they have disagreed with one another on a variety of issues but are united in their opposition to a Trump presidency.
They called Trump “fundamentally dishonest” and said his support for the expanded use of torture against suspected terrorists is inexcusable. They also cited Trump’s “hateful, anti-Muslim rhetoric,” his admiration for Russian President Vladimir Putin, and his advocacy for waging trade wars, which they say would lead to economic disaster in a globally connected world.
The letter was posted on the web site War On The Rocks, an online forum for foreign policy and national security commentary.
Other experts who signed the letter are Fran Townsend, former homeland security and counterterrorism adviser to President George W. Bush; Eliot Cohen, former counselor to the State Department; Dov Zakheim, former Pentagon comptroller; and Robert Zoellick, former president of the World Bank.
“… hateful, anti-Muslim rhetoric.” OK.
It would appear that the jackasses who signed the letter haven’t bothered to notice that Muslims – “Islamic extremists” to the last man (women don’t count) – are waging war on the West. Just ask the Germans. Or Swedish women who are being raped in astounding numbers by Muslims while their government stands by and does nothing.
I’m not a fan of Donald Trump although I will vote for him in the general election if he’s the nominee. I am, however, even less of a fan of the idiots who are attacking him from the GOPe Establishment. They are the reason we have Donald Trump.
If Mitt Romney, John McCain, Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Paul Ryan, the Bush family, etal were people with even the least smattering of honor Donald Trump would be off somewhere running his hotel empire and being a reality TV host. The reason Donald Trump is the frontrunner in the Republican field is because not one of these people can even spell “honorable” any more. I’m not sure they ever could, but they certainly can’t today.
Is Donald Trump fit to govern? Is he fit to be Commander in Chief? I don’t know. What I do know is that there is no Democrat anywhere in the nation that is fit for the job. And no Establishment Republican either – and Marco, that include you.
What it’s looking like is that we are going to find out.
