A homeowners’ association in Utah has decided that the American flag is a “decoration” and can only be flown ten days before and after a holiday. Really.
Apparently some of the people in this particular development are “tired of looking at the American Flag .”
Speaking to KSTU, HOA president Lyn Steinbergen said: ‘Flags are flown on holiday events.
‘All we are trying to do is regulate when the flag goes up, and when it comes down.’
HOA board member Jo Ann Dugay told KSTU: ‘After the last board meeting, we were leaving and two members of the board and a resident said they were tired of looking at the flag.
‘They said “Is this flag row?” And that something needed to be done about it.’
I’m having a really hard time digesting this. Maybe in Dearbornstan, Michigan, but not in Utah.
I’ve got some advice for the flag flying residents of this neighborhood. If you want to fight this, set up a “GoFundMe” account to hire an attorney. I’ll kick in the first $20. Find a way to take the association members who don’t like the American Flag to court personally so your association doesn’t get stuck with the legal bills and sue them.
Click the “Contact” link if you’re a member of the homeowners’ association and give us your contact info, I’ll be in touch and I’ll set up the account.
My son was a United States Marine from 2001 through 2006 and served through three deployments. Forty one of his team members died serving that flag that your association president wants taken down.
Forget the $20, I’ve got $50.
