Former Houston Astro Lance Berkman: No Men in Women’s Bathrooms! CALL TO ACTION!!

Former Houston Astro Lance Berkman made it clear this week in a Campaign for Houston ad!

“No men in women’s bathrooms, no boys in girls’ showers or locker rooms!”

The baseball player stated, “This would violate [women’s] privacy and put them in harm’s way.”

"No men in women's bathrooms, no boys in girls' showers or locker rooms!"

“No men in women’s bathrooms, no boys in girls’ showers or locker rooms!”

The ad is in response to the deceptive Proposition 1, the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance that comes to popular vote on Nov. 3.

The proposition is a result of the Texas Supreme Court smacking down Houston Mayor Annise Parker’s unlawful bathrooms ordinance in August.

The court told Mayor Parker in no uncertain terms to repeal it or put it on the ballot for the people to decide.

The court opinion stated, “The legislative power reserved to the people of Houston is not being honored!

If the city council does not repeal the ordinance by August 24, 2015, then by that date the city council must order that the ordinance be put to popular vote during the November 2015 election.

The court then suspended any enforcement of the ordinance.

So what the liar of a Mayor did next was abhorrent. They wrote the Proposition 1 to look like a general rights protection…with the bathrooms part as a small tiny little part! She knew good and well if it went to the vote as a bathroom Proposition, it would not pass… even in liberal Houston.

As stated on the Campaign for Houston website: “Mayor Parker’s ordinance is built on deception. It is not about protecting the rights of women, racial minorities, the disabled, elderly or military personnel.

There are already important laws on the federal, state and local levels that protect such individuals from discrimination for employment, housing and access to public accommodations.

The ordinance’s naming of these groups is a ruse in an attempt to hide the ordinance’s real purpose, which is to make “sexual orientation” and “gender identification” two new protected classes.

After the original ordinance was passed in May of 2014, Mayor Annise Parker refused to allow a repeal vote.

Conservative activists had fought for a repeal vote. Mayor Annise Parker refused to allow the vote. She threw out the valid signatures of thousands of voters and said the activists had not obtained enough signatures.

The court told Mayor Parker in no uncertain terms to repeal it or put it on the ballot for the people to decide.

Erik Stanley, Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Legal Counsel, said in a statement. “The scandal began when the city arbitrarily threw out the valid signatures of thousands of voters. The city did this all because it was bent on pushing through its deeply unpopular ordinance at any cost. The Texas Supreme Court has rightly rectified this wrong.

Also involved in the 2014 insanity was Mayor Annise Parker’s deciding that she would subpoena sermons from local preachers to discourage them from discussing the issue.

After a huge backlash that went national, Annise Parker was forced to withdraw the subpoenas. People from around the country mailed Bibles to her office.

Efforts to create laws allowing men who live as women to use women’s bathrooms (or visa-versa), have been popping up all over the country.

In August 2013, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation that allowed public school students to use facilities like showers and bathrooms based on their gender identity.

We are Citizens of Houston of all races, creeds and political beliefs who feel there should be NO MEN IN WOMEN'S BATHROOMS.

Campaign for Houston is made up of parents and family members who do not want their daughters, sisters or mothers forced to share restrooms in public facilities with men, who – under this ordinance – can call themselves “women” on a whim and use women’s restrooms whenever they wish.
