Run Joe Run. But You’ll Have to do it without Elizabeth Warren

Over the weekend, the media was all abuzz with the speculation that Vice President Joe Biden may be considering a run for the White House.

Barack ObamaHe has even received the blessing of President Barack Obama to give it his best shot.

After nearly two terms of Obama and all the years with unforgettable Biden “gaffes,” could anyone really cast a vote for him; even those on the left?

How could Biden be taken seriously when he’s said so many things that made people shake their heads in amusement or is that amazement?

Who could forget when Biden said, “My mother believed and my father believed that if I wanted to be president of the United States, I could be, I could be Vice President!”

Or, how about the first campaign rally when Biden introduced Obama by saying, “A man I’m proud to call my friend. A man who will be the next President of the United States — Barack America!”

Also, who could forget his not too politically correct mention of ethnicities when he said, “You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent…. I’m not joking.”

Finally, who could forget all of those pictures with uncomfortable looking women seemingly wishing they could remind Biden about the rules of personal space?

It’s one thing when a vice president doesn’t get it right, but it’s quite different when the president doesn’t act presidential. But then, I guess he could always take up golf!

Perhaps many thought Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) could help Biden’s image by agreeing to be his running mate.

joe bidenThey were no doubt hopeful when Biden met with Warren over the weekend. Maybe dreams of a dynamic duo danced in progressives’ heads with Biden as the presidential candidate and Warren as his trusty VP.

If that was the purpose of Biden’s meeting then I’m sure he walked away disappointed once he realized that Warren doesn’t need to take a second seat to anyone.

After all, one Democratic strategist described the Warren phenomenon with her supporters as a “cult of personality of Elizabeth Warren.”

Warren’s “Run Warren Run” website boasted over 365,000 progressives in its short-lived attempt to convince Warren to run as a presidential candidate. Some feel that Biden could only dream of having that kind of support.

Even though they suspended their efforts in June 2015, shortly after the “campaign” had begun, Warren would undoubtedly only need to say the word before her loyal fans would come scrambling back to cheer her on all the way to the White House.

While it’s almost too late to jump into the race at this point, many supporters tout Warren as being “right about everything.” So, maybe they wouldn’t care how late it is.

Remember, Biden is considering getting into the race this late in the game so anything is possible. However, Warren has repeatedly said she is not running for president.

joe biden bernie sanders elizabeth warrenEven if she were to consider running as a vice presidential candidate, it seems more likely that she would run with Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) because many believe and rightfully so, that their left-wing socialist policies are very similar.

In addition, Warren supporters have also been encouraged to throw their support to Sanders rather than Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Clearly, it appears that if Biden does decide to run, he will need to find his VP elsewhere.

For now, however, Biden has assembled a team to help him decide if he should consider getting into the race at all.

Biden met with a former White House communications director and an Obama attorney. Ted Kaufman, a loyal Biden confidant was also present in the meeting.

In addition, Biden recently planned to meet with a husband and wife team loyal to Obama over the past decade and Biden’s chief of staff.

While many Republicans are hopeful that Biden will make a bid for the White House because the gaffes would be entertaining, after almost eight years of watching the blunders, I’m not sure I want to see more.

As for what Biden will do, it could be that Biden will throw his support to Hillary Clinton instead of himself or if he decides to run, maybe he’ll ask Hillary to run as his VP in the event her campaign is interrupted by legal matters.

Think I’m kidding? Remember what Biden said about Hillary’s qualifications in 2008?

joe biden elizabeth warrenHillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be Vice President of the United States of America. Let’s get that straight. She’s a truly close personal friend. She is qualified to be President of the United States of America. She’s easily qualified to be Vice President of the United States of America. Quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me. But she’s first rate.”

Just remember, you heard it from Biden first!
