Obama’s Priorities on Show at Freddie Gray Funeral in Baltimore

Barack Obama is reinforcing his priorities as President of the United States.  Just in case you had any doubt.  He’s tapped a Cabinet Secretary and two others to attend Freddie Gray’s funeral in Baltimore.

The White House says the head of President Obama’s initiative for minority males will attend the funeral of a Baltimore man who died after sustaining serious injuries while in police custody.

Broderick Johnson, the chairman of the My Brother’s Keeper Task Force, will represent the administration at Monday’s funeral for Freddie Gray. Johnson is also the Cabinet secretary.

The White House said Sunday night that Johnson, a Baltimore native, will be accompanied by two other officials.

Three officials including a Cabinet Secretary to Freddie Gray’s funeral.

Let’s take a look at another funeral the Obama White House sent representatives to.

The White House has also sent three aidesto [Michael Brown’s] funeral: Broderick Johnson of My Brother’s Keeper Task Force; Marlon Marshall, deputy director of the White House Office of Public Engagement; and Heather Foster, adviser for the Office of Public Engagement.

Gee, Broderick Johnson again.  How about some other funerals.

Margaret Thatcher.  Remember her?  She and Ronald Reagan won the Cold War.  Obama didn’t attend.  He didn’t send a Cabinet Level official. Rather, he sent a low level State Department nudge.

Chris Kyle.  No representatives from the White House.  Not even a mention of Kyle’s death.  The President was obviously busy mourning Whitney Houston who died the same month and was mentioned in an official statement from the White House.

Nicholas Oresko.  A Medal of Honor recipient who received the medal for heroism during the Battle of the Bulge.  No attendance, no mention.  Barack Obama thinks he is “the greatest generation.”

Lech Kaczynski.  President of Poland, killed in a plane crash.  Obama said he would attend, but then backed out for a golf game on the day of the funeral.  Honest.

There are lots more, but you get the idea.

What about real dignitaries who’ve shaped the world?  Why don’t they rate at least a mention from this White House?

To paraphrase the President from his comedy routine at the recent White House Press Corps Dinner, “Bucket.”
