That’s right, Republican Speaker John Boehner’s is safe at least for the next two years. Conservative House Members are more than a little disgruntled with the Speaker over his support of President Obama’s unconstitutional amnesty plan.
When the Speaker brought the “clean” funding bill for Department of Homeland Security to the floor of the House Republican Caucus voted overwhelmingly against it.Only seventy-five Republicans voted in favor of funding Obama’s amnesty. One hundred and eighty voted against it.
The overwhelming vote sparked immediate rumors of the overthrow attempt aimed at the Speaker.A stake was driven through the heart of the insurgency this week by none other than Nancy Pelosi’s Democrats.
Democrats from across an ideological spectrum say they’d rather see Boehner remain atop the House than replace him with a more conservative Speaker who would almost certainly be less willing to reach across the aisle in search of compromise.
So John’s job is safe. You’re going to sleep better tonight, right?
We wonder how long it will take the Speaker of the House fall into line with the president on his desire to mandate increased taxes on business? At this point he doesn’t even have to make a show of opposing them.
