Ted Cruz: Two Minutes on What’s Wrong With Net Neutrality

0

Big government hacks have been chomping at the bit to find some way to regulate the Internet and take away the last frontier where people have 100 percent freedom of speech in this country. And President Obama is carrying the torch for the cause by advocating for what has become known as “net neutrality.”

What Mr. Progressive–my not-so-endearing term for B.O.–wants to do is regulate the Internet as if it were a public utility like electricity or water. How would he go about doing this? By giving the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) vast authority over the Internet, of course!

We all know what would happen if the FCC got their grabby bureaucratic claws on the Internet. It wouldn’t be long before they’d start flexing their Big Government muscle for censoring the material Americans have access to or that could be shared online.

All the ramifications of net neutrality are actually pretty complicated, but fortunately, there’s at least one sane individual in Congress who has taken the time to break it all down and show us why FCC regulation of the Internet is the stuff nightmares are made of.

That individual is Sen. Ted Cruz who released a short two minute video explaining why he’s against net neutrality and why you should be, too.

Via TheBlaze:

“The worse thing that could happen is letting a whole bunch of politicians come in and regulate every aspect of what you’re doing,” Cruz said.

“The innovation is happening without having to go to government and say ‘Mother, may I?’ What happens when the government starts regulating a service as a public utility is it calcifies everything and freezes it in place,” the Texas Republican said.

“The last thing you want is for five unelected bureaucrats in Washington to take charge of regulating the Internet as a public utility,” he concluded.

Couldn’t have said it better.

By now, after seeing countless examples of how horribly anything goes when it’s handled by the government, no one in their right mind would be advocating for this kind of Big Brother, collectivist horse manure.

Any time the government takes control of anything, they run it straight into the ground. If you don’t believe me, take a look at the postal service and now the healthcare system with the implementation of Obamacare. If that’s not enough to convince you the federal government is totally inept then it’s about time to check into the funny farm.

The Internet is not a utility, nor is it a right. We don’t need government regulation. Sen. Cruz was spot on in saying that the maximum liberty the Internet currently enjoys is the very reason so much good, success, and innovation has come from it. Allowing net neutrality to pass would kill all of that within the blink of an eye.

President Obama, please, for the love of all that’s good and right this side of heaven, keep your mitts off of the Internet!  For once, please consider keeping your big government loving hands to yourself!

I doubt he’ll read this–or that he’d care about my thoughts even if he did–but yelling at him, even if he can’t hear me helps me keep from pulling all the hair out of my head. So it’s worth it!
