Harry Reid is in trouble. Big trouble. Here’s what Harry said in a conference call last week.
If Joni Ernst beats Rep. Bruce Braley in Iowa on Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said he expects to kiss the Democratic majority goodbye.
The Nevada Democrat said if Braley wins in Iowa, Democrats will do “just fine.” And if they lose? Say hello to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Reid said in a conference call Saturday with the Progressive Change Campaign Committee.
“Joni Ernst would mean — coming to the United States Senate — that Mitch McConnell would be leader of the United States Senate, who agrees with her on everything. Think of what would mean for our country,” Reid said of Ernst, repeatedly attacking her positions against raising the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour.
We’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what that would mean for our country, Harry.
For starters, it would mean that the Senate would no longer be the “chamber of NO!” Democrats have been calling Republicans “the party of no” for the last four years, but the voice for “NO” in Washington DC is you Harry, you. House Republicans have passed hundreds of bills, including budgets that the Senate is required by law to vote on, and you’ve let them languish on your desk.
The logjam is about to break Harry and your feeble President is going to have get off the golf course and start vetoing bills. In other words Harry, Democrats are going to have to show the nation what they really stand for. If people are even paying a little bit of attention that’s going to be a disaster for you and for your party Harry. And, you’re on the ballot in 2016 Harry.
Why are we so confident that Harry’s worst nightmare is about to come true?
Joni Ernst has charged to achieve a 7-point lead over Democrat Bruce Braley in a new Iowa Poll, which buoys the GOP’s hope that an Iowa victory will be the tipping point to a Republican takeover of the U.S. Senate.
Ernst, a state senator and military leader, enjoys 51 percent support among likely voters. That’s a majority, and it’s her biggest lead in the three Iowa Polls conducted this fall. Braley, a congressman and trial lawyer, gets 44 percent, according to The Des Moines Register’s final Iowa Poll before Tuesday’s election.
Another sign of trouble: Braley is losing by 3 points in his home congressional district in left-leaning northeast Iowa. In the early October poll, he was up by 1 point there.
Heh. The first thing we thought of when we saw Harry’s dismay about Iowa was this ad for Joni Ernst…
Harry, it looks like you’ll be losing more than your job.
