Did Obama Call Off the National Guard in Ferguson?

Or is Missouri Governor Jay Nixon (D) simply an idiot?  After all, Nixon declared a “state of emergency” and called up the National Guard over a week ago supposedly to protect lives and property in Ferguson after the grand jury announcement.

What we do know, first of all, is that the Mayor of Ferguson and the St. Louis County Executive – both Democrats – tried to reach Governor Nixon to demand that he release the Guard.  Neither, apparently, were able to do anything but leave a voice mail.  Here’s the Mayor…

From the Mayor’s lips to God’s ears, because Governor Nixon sure as hell wasn’t listening.

“I know I’ve been on the phone in contact with the County Executive’s Office. I know he has requested. I am requesting. I’ve requested the National Guard troops to come out from their command post to help restore order along the business district. We have not seen that… Those calls have gone unheeded at this point

We need to have the governor step up and give us the resources that he’s promised from the beginning. He said he would have a strong response. The resources necessary would be provided. They have not been provided so far.

It appears that the Governor was AWOL for the good citizens in Ferguson.  He repeatedly said that he was going to do whatever was necessary to protect lives and property in Ferguson.

“Together we are all focused on making sure the necessary resources are at hand to protect lives, protect property, and protect free speech,” he said. Nixon and the officials he appeared with said they had not been told the grand jury’s decision.

Nice words Governor Nixon, zero action.  Zero.  While you were nowhere to be found a good chunk of the downtown business area in Ferguson was burned to the ground.  Fires were started almost immediately and because of random gunfire firefighters could not get in to put out the fires.

The National Guard was apparently deployed in St. Louis proper and a number of other areas around St. Louis County.  But none, zero, nada, bupkis, nary a one, in Ferguson.  Hell of a job, Jay.

At least one elected official other than the Mayor was angry this morning, and that would be the Lt. Governor, Peter Kinder (R).

And the question of the hour is:  Did Barack Obama or his Department of Racial Justice put a call in to Governor Nixon and tell him to hold the Guard?  That answer will be forthcoming along with Lois Lerner’s emails.  Although, the emails could show up first.

With the light of day and the fires having burned out, apparently Nixon finally came out of his slumber

Aiming to head off another night of looting and arson, Gov. Jay Nixon called in reinforcements Tuesday in an effort to quell the violence that gripped this St. Louis suburb after a grand jury declined to indict Darren Wilson, a white police officer, in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager.

At an afternoon news conference, Governor Nixon said that 2,200 National Guard troops would be deployed Tuesday — triple the 700 in the city the night before.

If there were 700 Guardsmen in Ferguson last night nobody saw them.  We’ll see what happens tonight, we’re guessing more rioting and looting because the media still needs ratings and Communist Party organizers who’ve come to Ferguson are still there.
