A Ferguson police officer was shot Saturday night, close to the area impacted by protests last month in Ferguson, Missouri, following the shooting of Michael Brown by Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson. The officer is still alive, although his condition at 11:24 Central Time is still unknown.
The suspect is still at large.
This follows tension in the area once again arising over the past two days. On Thursday, Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson issued an apology to Brown’s family, saying; “I’m truly sorry for the loss of your son. I’m also sorry that it took so long to remove Michael from the street. You have every right to be angry and upset.”
Hours later, tensions flared in the street outside of City Hall as protestors were in the area most of the night and didn’t start to clear out until around 3 a.m. A Ferguson police lieutenant reported seven arrests were made.
