The Presidential Candidate from Murder City

0

You think we’re talking about Barack Obama from Chicago, right?  Well, you’d be wrong.  Dead wrong.  We’re not even talking about the 2008 or 2012 election, we’re looking ahead to 2016, and Chicago’s not even close to this city when it comes to the title “Murder City!”

Poverty-Crumbling-Infastructure-APWe’re talking about the city with the greatest aquarium ever.  We used to live close to there and we’d take the Curmudgeons-in-Training there when they were shorter than they are today.

We’re talking Baltimore.  As in Maryland.

That’s right, Baltimore.  The sort-of-suburb of the nation’s capital.  A city that works hard to give the perception of a very successful, upscale city.

We’ll put this in perspective for you.  Chicago, the city that’s generally perceived as the murder capital of the US, has a murder rate of 18.5 per 100,000 population.  For a little more perspective, the murder rate in the US is 4.7 per 100,000.  And for even more perspective, the murder rate for white Americans is 2.6 per 100,000 while the murder rate for black Americans is 17.5 per 100,000.

That brings us to Baltimore, and they’ve got an overall homicide rate (in 2007) of 45.2 per 100,000.  You’re asking why we picked 2007, and that’s a fair question.  Well, it happens that Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley was mayor of Baltimore in 2007, when the murder rate was roughly 10 times the national average.  Martin O’Malley just happens to be pushing himself as a candidate for President in 2016, because he thinks the nation needs a true Progressive in the Oval Office, and if Hillary decides not to run – and we think that’s a good possibility – O’Malley could be a dark horse candidate.

If you want to know how bad Baltimore is, just listen to this clip from Laura Ingraham’s show last week, a Baltimore resident talking about how the Obama administration wants to spend $3+ billion on the border and how he’s trying to relocate illegal aliens to Maryland.  Her neighborhood is so dangerous her kids can’t play outside, and the administration, and Governor O’Malley who supports unlimited amnesty and the relocation of aliens, aren’t doing anything to make her neighborhood safe.

This mess could put a stake through the heart of O’Malley’s Presidential hopes and, hopefully, Barack Obama’s last 2 1/2 years in office.
