It’s looking more and more like Ben Carson is going to run for President

Carson has been taking some heat from Curmudgeons all across the country for his seeming willingness to dismember the 2nd Amendment.  He gave a speech at the National Press Club the other day and was asked a question about the his stance on the 2nd Amendment.

Here’s the money quote:  “We should be able to engage in conversations about [the Second Amendment],” and the discussion should center around “what can we agree on that doesn’t violate the Second Amendment?”

Dr. Ben Carson has been removed from the people I’ll consider voting for in 2016.  If he’s the nominee, your Curmudgeon will most likely stay home.  We understand that Hillary will be a lot worse on every issue, including the 2nd Amendment, but the day Republicans sell out the 2nd Amendment is the day we retire from politics.

We’ve nominated two (and probably three, counting Romney) candidates who are pro-amnesty.  We’ve got a Speaker of the House and a Senate Minority Leader who would sign off on amnesty for about 40 million illegal aliens and their families.  The 2nd Amendment is the final straw that will kill the camel.  Hump Day will have arrived.

Dr. Carson, the beginning and the end of the conversation about the 2nd Amendment is this:  “No.”  It just so happens that the majority of the American people stand with the Curmudgeon.

Most voters oppose tougher gun control for the first time since the Connecticut elementary school shootings in December 2012.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 40% of Likely U.S. Voters now think the United States needs stricter gun control laws, down nine points from last May and the lowest level of support for stricter laws since February 2012. Fifty-three percent (53%) do not think the country needs tougher gun control laws, the highest level of opposition in over two years.

Now we understand that Republicans, especially establishment Republicans, don’t give a tinker’s dam about what the people think.  After all, the establishment is doing everything they can think of to jam amnesty through the House before the election.  We’re pretty sure they think that come January there’s going to be a bunch of new conservative House Members and Senators and they know that amnesty will never get through either house.

Dr. Carson, while a great surgeon and a fine American, is not Presidential material.  At least not if you want a conservative President.
