Square bans Gun Sale Transactions

BanSquareIt is being reported by Breitbart that:

…vendors using the Square Account mobile phone application, which processes credit and debit card transactions, received an updated user agreement dated May 9th, 2013. In this agreement, Part One, Section 6, states “By creating a Square Account, you also confirm that you will not accept payments in connection with the following businesses or business activities: [this section has been modified to add item number]“(23) sales of (i) firearms, firearm parts or hardware, and ammunition; or (ii) weapons and other devices designed to cause physical injury.”

Square is a privately owned business and it is our hope that if you support the Second Amendment you will vote with your wallet.  We as conservatives believe that the free market should settle issues like this.  Contrast that with this story out of Washington state where a florist is being sued for refusing to provide flowers for a same-sex marriage ceremony.

It seems odd that a company that is refusing to handle transactions for a Constitutionally protected right to bear arms gets a pass from Federal and State authorities, while a Christian business owner, who has a moral objection same-sex marriage is being sued.  I guess it’s all just part of that upside down world we’ve been living in…

  • Whatever happened to the business tagline “We Reserve The Right To Refuse Business To Anyone” Just as any business should have the right to refuse service to anyone, I as a consumer have the right to choose where or whom I purchase from as well. I was a fireams retailer for several years and have refused sale to several people I had strong suspicions of being straw purchasers. There is a chance I could have been wrong and upset a customer. But it’s better to be wrong and alienate one customer, then to sell to them and possibly get the FFL revoked and lose all of my customers.

Or contributions to the DEMOCRATIC PARTY. Especially OBAMASS.

As with anything else, there are other options available to vendors besides SQUARE. There’s Intuit’s “GO PAYMENT” and PayPal’s “HERE”. There are also a plethora of apps that will allow vendors to accept credit/debit card payments as well.

Please call your local vendors and let them know, TODAY!

  • WhiteFalcon

    I just banned Square.

  • Looks like Square is going the way of Starbucks as far as my family and I are concerned. BOYCOTTED!!

  • Average_Joe56

After reading a good many of the posted responses, it’s good to see that people are waking up and voting with their wallets. The only things that corporations and politicians understand is money and power. If we cut off the money, the power dissipates…quickly.

Stop buying their products. Stop using their services. Discharge all credit card debt….and don’t take on any new credit card debt. They feed on our stupidity, they feed on our desire… to have everything…right now.
Stop the cash flow and we stop their abuses. Stop being their customer…..After all, the Customer IS always right!

  • Deadeye

    The lib/commie way….again!

  • we are grown adults not kindercardeners,i don’t need a nany or teacher to follow me around and tell me somethings wrong, and not to do it,that why criminals are criminals they refuse to act with any responsibility for theyre lives, and when they go get stupid we the law abiding citizen get some knee jerk half assed written moron rammed down our throat by a politician who could give a damn less if we all died as long as he was the last dictator.im absolutelt sick of these buffoons lets vote all of them out and impeach the head moron

  • Just boycott the damn business and let them go out of business. Problem solved.

  • Have not used and as of now never will.

    Welcome to bizzarro world

  • Sparten1

That means you can’t sell chain saws either.

  • rchguns

This is about the dumbest thing in the world. As a business that depends on business transactions to make its money and with the boom in firearms sales and ammunition they are really cutting themselves off of a good chunk of business.
Not only that the person who decided this must be some kind of a moron. In their stipulation that they will not carry transactions that pertain “weapons and other devices designed to cause physical injury” is enough to put them out of business. Any blunt object is or can be a weapon our ancestor the caveman used clubs and rocks quite effectively. There are very few items out there that cannot be turned into a weapon that will cause sufficient if not fatal injuries.
A rolled up magazine or even a newspaper is a very effective weapon that can break ribs and quite possibly kill someone. A bottle of soda bottle water are even better. If you have that in some kind of a bag swing it I’ll guarantee you will cause bodily injury. Just like a woman’s purse you never want to get hit by one of them.

This company symbol should not be a square it should be a triangle like a Dunce cap.

  • Yes Liberals are clueless, only Agenda driven. I will not purchase square ever!

  • goku vegeta

  • kyle pierce

Now fire arms are designed to cause physical injury? Last time I checked I buy a gun for recreational use. If I just so happen to be forced to use it for self defense than so be it.

  • HorseTeethSam

Christians are an officially EXCLUDED class. This is called reverse-affirmative-action. Same for gun-owners. Gun owners should be ashamed of themselves for wanting to kill children and furry kittens. Guns are shameful, as is Christianity. (sarcasm)

  • Tell that to the politicos and parents of the 12 year-old arrested for stabbing his 8 year-old sister to death. Or how about Arias who sliced up her “boy friend” to satisfy her psychotic anger lust and, perhaps, to be damned sure he was dead. We’ve caught on to this game. How many of those who insist upon remaining ignorant and apathetic are wising up? Are we making any headway at all?

  • Funny, not two weeks ago a gun store that I found in my area, sold me ammo and used the square, I wonder if they have to get another way of doing credit business. I am going to call them.

  • marineh2ominer

Liberals aren’t just clueless , they are out and out A–holes .

  • MortarMan107

How open ended can a “policy” get? Other devices designed to cause injury? That’s ANY knife ever made. Liberal/Communist HYPOCRISY is simply breathtaking!

  • Patriot Infidel

Hmmm, does this apply to archery also? How about baseball bats, cars (I can run a LOT of people over), alcohol (drink and drive and you can cause immeasureable harm), and how about, …, …, …, and finally …
Freakin morons! No square for this guy. Carve that square into a long piece of dung.

    • taliesin319

I have a miniature crossbow capable for hunting. Keep it by the bedside. Its silent and deadly accurate.

  • We are a vendor that has been using the square, we’ll be looking for a new method of accepting payments.

  • Guest

They just got deleted from my apps list. And I will be telling everyone I know why they should avoid dealing with them. Besides being an UN-American company.

  • jimpeel

Never heard of “square” and will never use them.

  • I’m dumping my GE credit account too because of their actions against gun manufacturers. For those who haven’t done so, Amazon’s line of credit is GE.

    • Don Wieser

Way to go Cindy!! Nobody should have been doing anything related to GE, from the toasters to their credit company! Period! I got rid of my GE appliances and will not buy any GE product
since the 1990’s! I see people talk about companies supporting liberal ideals then watch them buy that companies products or watch movies made by liberal yahoos! People need to either be a real anti-liberal or not! If not they need to shut up!

    • NewMexicoGlo

Thank you for letting us know about Amazon’s credit provider. It might also be beneficial if a lot of people contacted Amazon directly and let them know that we are not happy with their association with GE. With the amount of business that Amazon does in general, I’m guessing that if a lot of people contacted them about this they would be willing to consider using a different credit provider.

  • wdcraftr

What happened to a Businesses right to Refuse Service to Anyone? Guess, it went away with the constitution… Obama and his Administration is showing that the can Kill, Threaten, Terrorize, Steal your Money and Property, treat people and business differently depending on their Political views, etc, and that No one will stop him, short of a Revolution. If He is not Removed from office for Benghazi, the IRS incident, the Phony Birth Certificate, voter fraud, etc., then we might as well call him, “Hitler Obama! He is 10 times worse than Nixon, and he Resigned. Of course, Obama Has NO Integrity…

  • I’ve never heard of Square. Who are they and what do they do?

    • Square is a Smartphone app that allows one to accept credit/debit card payments. They charge 2.75% of the transaction amount as a fee. They have several competitors you can use instead, though.

  • Obama should ban rocks too….they can be thrown as weapons of jack-ass mass destruction.

  • You can put a bullet right through the center of a square target as easily as a round one.

  • Chuck

Not only is Square off my list of companies to do business with but also any company that uses Square to process my credit card will no longer get my business. Any person. organization, company, or corporation that does not support the Second Amendment will not get my business

    • violater1

Amen chuck! Should not take long breaking this commie business of finance with your direction of intellect! Look and ask if they use Square before spending there!

  • Hmmm: so I guess last month’s FBI report doesn’t mean anything.

  • That might ban baseball bats, carving sets, kitchen cutlery, autos and auto parts, doctor’s visits…

  • The company must have been started with “Obama money”. Who else would race to damage their own business growth.

  • James Maxwell

Humm, guess I will not do business with anyone who used “Square”, I would have a problem with
the “trust” factor of someone using that procedure to process a credit care transaction since they
are unable to print out a receipt at the time of the transaction. There are way to many criminals
out there who would use it to scam the public. Sounds like that may be the case of the “square”
    company also.

  • Centurion ‘

You can’t put a square peg in the barrel of your gun. Remember this when making an on line purchase.

  • Capt Phil

I suggest setting up a petition page for Sq with a statement of fact as mentioned here. The problem with conservatives is we randomly complain without action rather than emulate our effective opponent’s actions by focusing our disdain using NUMBERS of COMPLAINTS at a specific target, ie Sq.
Set the petition up and provide additional Sq contacts (phone, e-mail) then circulate far & wide (blogs, e-mails, Facebook, Twitter, ect) so sportsmen & Second Amendments people can effectively voice our opinion where it COUNTS.

    Just my .02 worth
    Capt. Phil GatorGuides.com

    • Who do you suggest sets up the petition? Why don’t you take the bull by the horns and get-er-done. You know what you want done, so CHARRRGE.

    • Capt Phil

I already have a heard by the horn; Second Amendment, Southern Heritage & Boating access. Someone else needs to step up as my plate is full.

  • crofootski

I will no longer purchase anything from someone who will use a Square to process my card, and I’ll let them know why. I’ll give them cash, but I won’t allow Squareup to get %2.75 percent of my purchase.

  • I have never seen any of my retailers use square….but if I would I now know that I don’t need to deal with them.

  • crofootski

I sent them a question about this at squareup.com. I’ll see if they answer me. I told them that if this is true, I will not be buying a Square.

  • Never heard of these folks until now. when master Card and Visa quit authorizing my guns and ammunitions purchases we will have a serious chat. As for Square, now that I know, there is not chance I will ever use them. I have already added Costco to the list of businesses I don’t visit since they could not control their politics.

    • violater1

You chose the correct way to help control their politics in my opinion called boycott! Also include Hyatt and Marriot Hotels/ motels and anti American Olive Garden Restuarants and JC Penneys that is now feeling the pinch business wise and remember George Soros is the principle owner of Progressive Insurance do no business with this communist swines!

    • Somekindofpatriot

Oh no I just joined Costco, unfortunately I am not aware of their politics please fill me in. I will drop them like a hot potato.

  • NecroLord

Just sent a request for them to disable my account with a full explanation why! Thanks for the info!

  • Lowell

Never used Square, now I never will.

  • I suppose that you can no longer use a Square account to pay for pressure cookers now.

  • bitshuffler

So much for Square… they’re off my list of companies to work with or recommend.

    • 7papa7

Amen to that, I also wish I lived in WA so I could do business with that Christian florist. I applaud them and hope that they win. I am sick to death of these attacks on the Constitution, this time the first amendment. We have governments out of control at both the federal, state and city levels.

      • taliesin319

How do we know which companies use them ? A list would be helpful.

        • 7papa7

How many will continue to use them is what I would like to know. The companies aren’t responsible unless they stay with them after they are notified.

    • Dan

a lot of vendors at gun shows use the “square”, should they be boycotted?

      • shakeyj

Yep ,I bought a 30 30 at the gun show the day after Sandy Hook . And the vender used square to complete the sale. I hope they boot the friggers.

      • bitshuffler

According to Square, they won’t accept transactions from these vendors. Yes, boycott Square; No, don’t boycott vendors at gun shows.

  • Does this mean I can’t buy scissors for sewing, or pins or a cutting wheel for fabric?

    • Dan S.

Maybe not. try and find out. Hope they don’t haul you off to jail tho.

  • what goes around comes around for the dominant minority as well as the compliant majority.

  • DontTreadOnMe11

“weapons and other devices designed to cause physical injury.” So you can’t buy a kitchen knife set? Liberals are clueless!

    • No the line will be, “Kitchen knives are designed for chopping and preparing food, while those evil murderweapons only have one use: to murder people. With Hitler AIDS. On their birthday.”

      • taliesin319

If you intend to murder someone with a knife or cleaver, just say you were preparing them for the evening meal and then eveything will be ticketty-boo.

    • TheSunDidIt

Are cleavers for kitchen use or only for horror movies?

well when i butcher the deer i kill,i use a cleaver

      • Dan S.

Good question. I think Nobama is against them tho.

    • darkwingdave

      It’s across the pond …
doctors are calling for a ban on long pointed kitchen knives to reduce deaths from stabbing.
A team from West Middlesex University Hospital said violent crime is on the increase – and kitchen knives are used in as many as half of all stabbings.

      • Dan S.

Okay, so they ban all knives, pressure cookers, guns, forks, spoons, anything made of glass, (basically anything that can be broken and become sharp). That just leaves us with our bare hands to do anything with. Kinda back to the stone age.
Oh wait a minute, I think they’re gonna ban our hands too. Now, I’m not being a smart butt about this. Just sayin’ the way things appear to be heading in.

        • DontTreadOnMe11

The used sharpened stones and sticks in the stone age. Should we ban rocks, sticks and stones?

          • Dan S.

I really don’t think all this banning crap works anyway, but the crazy libs think it works. They just might try that.

      • NewMexicoGlo

Thanks for the heads up. Wonder where the Ovomit regime will try to take us next…

    • Growing your own vegetables is next.

    • Stagester

      What about pressure cookers?

    • Pressure cookers are also included in the “other devices designed to cause physical injury”, I assume.

    • DisgustedWithAdmin

No more pressure cookers for you pal…..
